Created in 1990, Da Collision dance company has gained recognition for its unique creations that incorporate contact improvisation, voice, acting, authentic movement practices and traditional dance technique. Artistic Director Darcey Callison has been referred to by critics as a 'dance daredevil'. His theatrically motivated, physically challenging, image based choreography often incorporates production elements such as slides and original compositions. As a choreographer he is interested in the specific physical language derived from the theme of each new work. Embracing the notion that content dictates form and/or that form dictates content (and that God is in the details), Callison choreography continues to change and develop to reflect the meaning and physical life of theatrical and choreographic themes in his projects.
