Classes & Workshops
Give the gift of a happy and healthy body, mind and spirit!
Hello everyone!
I am excited to offer a package deal of private or semi-private yoga sessions for the holiday season.
As a dancer, choreographer, dance teacher and yoga instructor, I have a natural curiousity about the body and inherent knowledge and experience regarding alignment and deep physical practice. I love working with people one on one or in small groups to give people a really in-depth personal approach to their yoga practice, helping to develop and then establish a set practice for people to continue on their own.
These sessions are perfect for those who are beginners wanting to build towards integrating themselves into a regular practice on their own or in a class setting, as well as for those who have experience and who want extra guidance and fresh ideas to add into their practice. I work with each person specifically to locate any limitations/tightness in the body, to discover how to release physical blockages and to build strength, flexibility and overall wellness. I focus heartily on healthy alignment in yoga postures, as well as the use of the breath and strategies for each individual to realign, decrease problem areas in the body, relax and build whole body awareness.
The packages are as follows:
Private:
package of 5 sessions @ $50 each
package of 10 sessions @ $45 each
Semi-Private (up to 6 pple):
package of 5 sessions @ $65 each
package of 10 sessions @ $60 each
Each session includes 1hr 30min of practice.
These sessions would happen in your/the recipients home/or other suitable venue (workplace etc, with some limitations regarding locations) during the month of January (from Jan 2 - Feb 3), with possible extension to include sessions into February. If anyone is interested in pre-holiday sessions, feel free to contact me about possible times during December. Holiday rates would still be applicable.
If you are interested you can contact me at howdaresheproductions@gmail.com or 416-556-0347 to discuss the package you are interested in and the potential location of the
sessions.
Please forward to anyone who you think might be interested!

National Ballet School, 400 Jarvis Street, concourse studio
Cost: $60 or $35/day
For more information and to register please call: 416-593-8455 or e-mail info@tribalcracklingwind.ca
Yim Savann and Phon Sopheap are two of the most prominent male classical dancers of their generation in Cambodia. Together they share a wealth of movement vocabulary and dance ethos that will form the basis of this workshop.
Both Savann and Sopheap have worked extensively with dancers and other artists from all over the world. The knowledge they have gained from these collaborations has given them a clear direction for presenting and transposing the Khmer dance traditions. Far from only teaching Khmer dance technique, Savann and Sopheap will join with Toronto choreographer Peter Chin to guide the participants in using Khmer dance technique to generate movement of their own in a creative situation that respects both the body sourced movement sensibility of the participant, and the Khmer dance sources. There will also be video segments shown of classical Khmer dance and daily life of artists in Cambodia to give context to the movement workshop.
Sopheap is a specialist in the monkey role from the famous classical Khmer Ballet. This role is known for its athletic physicality and cunning imitation of primate behaviour turned into dance. Savann is a specialist in the ogre/giant roles, known for its elegance and line as well as its strong sculptural presence.
This workshop is open to anybody interested in dance, creative movement, Cambodian culture, the Ramayana and South East Asian culture in general.

NATIONAL CIRCUS SCHOOL IS RECRUITING!
Audition Tour for the best talent in the country
Internationally known as one of the leading institutions in the world for the highest-quality professional training in its field, the National Circus School hits the road the month of February
2008 in search of the best talent in the country! The Montreal-based School, unique in North America, offers young people who aspire to become circus performers a chance to combine
training with an academic education. In February 2008, the School will hold auditions in Toronto, Vancouver and Montréal. Auditions are by appointment only, and the deadline to apply is
midnight, January 18, 2008.
More than 140 students from around the world currently attend the National Circus School. "The interaction between faculty and students, who all come from very diverse backgrounds and nationalities, creates an extremely rich environment in which to explore the circus arts," says Anna Ward, a School graduate who is now part of the latest creation by Cirque Éloize.
Upon completing training at the National Circus School, graduates of the higher education programs quickly receive offers from the world's leading circus companies including, of course, Cirque du Soleil. In fact, more than 95% of graduates find employment in the first weeks following completion of their studies. "The creative confidence this school instilled in me serves me well today with my own circus company," says Patrick Léonard, a graduate of the School and co-founder of the 7 Fingers collective, whose shows Traces and Le Loft have been lauded around the world.
The audition, also called the Entrance Examination, determines a candidate's potential aptitude and capacity to successfully complete a program. It consists of a series of tests of physical and artistic aptitude to evaluate candidates' potential and skills, as well as their ability to complete the program. Young people wishing to register for the audition/examination may come from any one of these backgrounds: gymnastics, dance, acrosport, diving, figure skating, martial arts or, of course, circus arts! The auditions are mandatory for entry into all
programs.
National Circus School programs are designed to provide students with a well-rounded education. The National Circus School provides complete professional training in circus arts, from preparatory training to high school and college-level programs. It also offers two college diploma programs for circus arts teachers. A summer camp for young people between 9 and 17 years of age serves to introduce them to professional training while sampling circus life at the School. And, with the fall 2008 session, the School will be able to provide complete dormitory services for its students.
To be considered for the February 2008 auditions, held consecutively in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, candidates are required to send an Application Form before the January 18, 2008 midnight deadline. For a complete description of the audition process and registration forms, or further information about the School and its programs: http://www.nationalcircusschool.ca , or info@enc.qc.ca , or toll free 1-800-267-0859.
