DANCE OUR WAY HOME
6-WEEK Series (Closed Group)
Saturday, January 26 - March 1, 2008
2-3:45pm
Dovercourt House, 3rd floor
Come and nourish, strengthen and renew your unique self in these six weeks of healing dance sessions.
This series is an opportunity to experience a woman's way to wellness and wholeness.
This is a pathway to find your own truth, to connect with your roots, fall in love with yourself, free your creative possibilities and blossom into more of who you are, set in the supportive context of women's community.
Different weekly themes will be offered as medicine for the soul, as we weave the threads of joy, compassion and wisdom, through
the gentle art of movement, ritual and relaxation.
You can expect great music, great company, great teachings, and even some magic!
No experience needed. Only a willingness to move and be moved.
2 Options for attending: Commitment to all 6 weeks, or 4 out of any of the 6 weeks.
There are 2 options because some women expressed their desire to join the series yet couldn't commit to all 6 weeks.
I have chosen a 4-week minimum of commitment, to create a container of cohesion and safety for the whole group.
OPTION 1:
For all 6 weeks - $120 if paid in full by Dec. 15*
$130 after Dec. 15
OPTION 2:
For 4 weeks - $90 if paid in full by Dec. 15*
$100 after Dec. 15
Extra weeks are $25 per session.
* If paid in full by Dec. 15, you will receive 1 free pass to attend either drop-in session in January.
And, if you attend the OASIS Workshop on Nov. 24, you will receive an extra 2 passes, to give to 2 friends (total of $60 worth of free sessions).
I am offering a deal and a bonus if you pay early because I need to book and pay for the space.
This is a closed group once it begins.

Class Descriptions
American vs International style :
Although American style smooth and international style standard are taught very differently, the styles are very similar. The most obvious difference is that int’l standard includes quickstep. The other difference is that int’l style permits figures in closed position only, while American style allows open positions and even solo actions. Beyond that, the main differences between the two styles are in emphasis rather than result. Compared to smooth/standard, rhythm/Latin has relatively little overlap. While each category has cha cha, rumba
and a swing dance, int’l has samba and paso doble, while American has bolero and mambo. The rumba dances are dissimilar, even in their basic counts, with steps on counts 1, 3, 4 for American and 2, 3, 4 for int’l. Most importantly, the hip motion differs: in American style, one steps onto a bent leg; in int’l style, onto a straight leg.
American Latin Intensive:
This is a registered class for students who want to learn at a fast pace and who are preparing for CDTA exams.
BALLROOM vs LATIN:
Ballroom or Standard usually means Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quick Step and Viennese Waltz, while Latin includes Cha Cha, Bolero,
Mambo, Merengue, Samba, Swing, Paso Doble and Jive.
Contemporary/Modern:
An expressive dance that works with the body to produce fluid and dramatic movement.
Hip Hop Music Video:
Each Fall and Winter term we take a group of students, teach them a dance routine and then put together a music video complete with
make-up, costume and lights. Everyone is welcome.

Give the gift of a happy and healthy body, mind and spirit!
Hello everyone!
I am excited to offer a package deal of private or semi-private yoga sessions for the holiday season.
As a dancer, choreographer, dance teacher and yoga instructor, I have a natural curiousity about the body and inherent knowledge
and experience regarding alignment and deep physical practice. I love working with people one on one or in small groups to give
people a really in-depth personal approach to their yoga practice, helping to develop and then establish a set practice for people to continue on their own.
These sessions are perfect for those who are beginners wanting to build towards integrating themselves into a regular practice on
their own or in a class setting, as well as for those who have experience and who want extra guidance and fresh ideas to add into their practice.
I work with each person specifically to locate any limitations/tightness in the body, to discover how to release physical blockages and to build strength, flexibility and overall wellness. I focus heartily on healthy alignment in yoga postures, as well as the use of the breath and strategies for each individual to realign, decrease problem areas in the body, relax and build whole body awareness.
The packages are as follows:
Private:
package of 5 sessions @ $50 each
package of 10 sessions @ $45 each
Semi-Private (up to 6 pple):
package of 5 sessions @ $65 each
package of 10 sessions @ $60 each
Each session includes 1hr 30min of practice.
These sessions would happen in your/the recipients home/or other suitable venue (workplace etc, with some limitations regarding
locations) during the month of January (from Jan 2 - Feb 3), with possible extension to include sessions into February. If anyone is interested in pre-holiday sessions, feel free to contact me about possible times during December. Holiday rates would still be applicable.
If you are interested you can contact me at howdaresheproductions@gmail.com or 416-556-0347 to discuss the package you are interested in and the potential location of the sessions.
Please forward to anyone who you think might be interested!

1. Creative Economy in Transition: Arts and Culture in Domestic and Global Markets
This theme invites research that focuses on the transitions taking place in the arts and cultural sector domestically and globally. Both at home and abroad, the arts and cultural sector contributes significantly to economic wealth. In Canada, this sector accounts for 3.8 percent of GDP and provides employment to nearly 600,000 workers. Arts and cultural industries are important drivers of creativity, innovation and job creation. It is predicted that the creative economy will continue to grow rapidly due to the lower costs in accessing technologies that are used to create and disseminate cultural products and experiences.

- Theoretical understanding and frameworks related to the creative economy
- Entrepreneurship: the rise of new business models from creators to major players
- The role of foreign investment in the health of domestic and global economies
- The role of emerging economies in the production of cultural products
- Economic implications of regional “digital deficits”
- The changing arts and culture value chains/networks
- The economic advantage of diversity in the arts and culture workforce

2. Measuring Arts and Culture as an Economic and Social Engine of a Country’s Wealth
This theme invites research that addresses measurement of the contribution of the arts and cultural sector to a country’s economy. A need exists for emerging economic models and tools to measure the contribution of the arts and cultural sector to the economy, at national and international levels. 3. Consumption Dynamics: Consumers Driving Change
This theme invites research that focuses on the profile of Canadian and international consumers of arts and culture goods and services, as well as trends in consumption. This theme includes new roles for consumers in artistic and cultural activities. Relevant themes and topics include (but are not limited to):
- Trends in consumer spending on arts and culture goods and services; from passive consumption to active participation (consumer to prosumer)

- New forms of consumption: increasing engagement
4. Innovation and Research: Mobilizing New Practices
This theme invites research that focuses on new and innovative developments in the sector. For example, innovations in information and communications technology have profoundly impacted the development of arts and culture goods and services and the globalization of markets.
Relevant themes and topics include (but are not limited to):
- The economic impact of new digital technologies (e.g. Web 2.0, HDTV, mobile platforms) on the arts and cultural industries
- Incubator models for arts and cultural enterprises
- Characteristics of innovation in production/consumption of arts and culture
