Guided by Andrea Nann, artistic director of Andrea Nann Dreamwalker Dance Company, The Whole Shebang 2008 brings together story tellers, filmmakers, painters, choreographers, dancers, songwriters and musicians to inspire audiences to consider the wonderment and mystery of the human experience.

M-DO presents
HORIZONS 3
- the narrative in Kathak -
time-honoured and contemporary premieres
Moods of Spring with Rina Singha and the Kathak Institute and
Walk the Talk with Joanna de Souza
Thursday May 8th - 8 pm and Friday May 9th - 8pm
The Church of St. Stephen’s in the Field, 103 Bellevue (at College)

The vocabulary of Kathak allows this dance form to move between tradition and innovation easily. The flow of movement and dramatic expression (abhinaya) inherent to the form, enables the dance to reveal themes that are common and mythic, often at the same time.
Rina and Joanna will come together in an unforgettable evening of high-energy, narrative dance choreography!
Moods of Spring is a fifty-minute solo and company work that brings to life the traditional representations of spring - India style. The beautiful choreography is set to music by some of India's finest musicians.
Walk the Talk is a fifty-minute solo work, by Joanna de Souza. Here, de Souza uses the potent vocabulary of Kathak in telling her story, as an informed, contemporary, non South Asian, classical Indian dancer. The integrated musical score travels the gamut from solo tabla to Ray Charles and Rose Kazi of LAL!
The Horizons project, designed and produced by M-DO, presents a professional platform of access to the wonderful range and depth inherent in the classical dance forms from India. Horizons 3 is the last in this series and is not to be missed!
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Ontario’s oldest Gothic church- The Church of St. Stephen’s in the Field, Rina Singha and Joanna de Souza, bring the classical form of Kathak dance into the 21st century with their contemporary sensibilities and aesthetics.

About the Season Finale
Bold and Original Premieres
The SERIES 8:08 Season Finale was founded in 1998, and is a curated presentation of three to four premieres commissioned from the works-in-progress shown recently at Series 8:08’s Choreographic Performance Workshop Series. By presenting work that was influenced by workshop audience feedback, the Season Finale provides an opportunity to view dances in which workshop audience members may feel a creative investment. 2006 marked the third year of the mentorship program for dance artists, enabling these participants to work with like-minded senior dance artists who also develop work for the Season Finale.
Series 8:08 has brought audiences twenty-eight bold and exciting premieres through this program in the last eight seasons. Founded in 1992, its mandate is to promote the creative development of professional Canadian dance artists; to build a strong sense of artistic community; and to build a knowledgeable, appreciative audience for new dance.
