It’s finally here, the night the dance, theatre and opera community waits for the entire season:  the night of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards presentation and party.

The 38th annual awards show is a celebration of achievement in the Toronto performing arts community. The evening starts with a VIP cocktail reception for sponsors and presenters followed by the awards show and a celebratory after party.

This year, for the first time, the festivities are being held at the landmark Elgin theatre .

The Dance Umbrella  of Ontario is a proud member of TAPA, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts .  This year, for the first time, DUO is sponsoring the award for Outstanding Original Choreography Award in the Dance Division. This year’s nominees areKaren Kaeja for CraveYvonne Ng for  In Search of the Holy Chop SueyJennifer Dallas for Kittly-Bender; Kemi; Heidi Strauss for what it’s like and Lina Cruz  for Ylem (3 Eggs Ago).

The Dora Mavor Moore Awards are administered by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA). In addition to the Doras, other programs and services provided by TAPA include: the city-wide arts app TOnight “a box office in your pocket”; Toronto.spacefinder.org; Toronto’s Official Theatre Guide; hipTIX, offering $5 tickets to students between the ages of 14 and 29; citySPECIAL, offering free tickets to newcomers and marginalized communities; the Commercial Theatre Development Fund; and the Travel Retreat Initiatives Program – TRIP.
