A stage, any stage, even the one within our mind, is a cage… that defines, limits, and reveals.

CAGE, an experimental interdisciplinary performance experience inspired by apes, Zen Buddhism and the ideas of avant-garde composer John Cage has its final weekend at the Young Centre for The Performing Arts this Friday and Saturday

Shannon Litzenberger, Artistic Director of Shannon Litzenberger Contemporary Dance collaborated with  actor and Soulpepper founding member Diego Matamoros, designer Lorenzo Savoini and composer Richard Feren to create CAGE.

Positioned at the intersection of artistic disciplines, CAGE is a meditation on time, space, memory, and the human animal.

“Our goal was to create something that was the result of chance encounters between various disciplines that would be governed by a structure, with all three of us as active performers… Space, themes, objects, text, performance, lighting, video projection and sound were all equal participants intersecting and juxtaposing one another as they created an abstract collage of experience.” Lorenzo Savoini
